BIO

Zsigmond Lucza studied painting and visual education at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts between 2002 and 2007. After graduating, he was an artist-in-residence in Stuttgart and Berlin in 2009-10. In 2012-13, he continued his studies as a visiting student at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland, focusing on media and fine arts.

As an artist, he is primarily interested in the interplay between the visual worlds of painting and digital media. This was also the focus of his research in the DLA program at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Arts. He paints both figurative and abstract images. His work often features transformed human figures, removed from their original environments, which carry symbolic meaning. Other times, he depicts digital or organic structures.

In addition to his artistic work, he has been involved in visual education for over a decade, teaching at state and foundation-run art high schools, workshops, and both domestic and international workshops. Since 2022, he has been an instructor of artistic drawing and color theory at the Department of Visual Arts at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Budapest.
